We’re proud that we can help people to make the most of the experience. The College’s dedicated International and Partnerships teams form links with other education and training providers and employers around the world to enhance the employability prospects of our students.

The recent Erasmus+ funded EATAP project brought together a European partnership of 学徒 educators in vocational educational training, higher education and in private and public sectors to design an innovative transnational training model for 冰球突破 in STEM/STEAM/MINT sectors.

  • STEAM – Lithuanian term for sciences, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics
  • STEM – UK term for sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics

The project outputs included a Train the Trainer course as well as a full programme that can be replicated by any VET organisation to deliver a successful three week European 学徒 programme that is accredited and recognised across Europe through Europass.

“At City College I really enjoyed the naval engineering lesson and the project-based learning experience was a different learning experience to how I learn at KVK. Through this I have been able to use equipment like the 3D printer which we do not have at KVK, 拓展团队合作能力, improve my language skills and I enjoyed meeting new people.”

“My time at the College improved my self-confidence and improved my 英语 language skills. I really enjoyed the independence of living away from home for three weeks.”

“Working with people whose first language is not 英语 is actually not difficult and very interesting, the three week programme improved my communication skills and confidence to present in front of an audience. 我很喜欢带我的项目组参观普利茅斯, and planning things to do with them after College and at the weekends. I gained new friendships during the programme and have formed lifetime bonds with the other participants.”

“The programme improved my social and communication skills and was a great opportunity to meet people from other organisations/educational establishments in Europe. I was also pleased to get to know other students at the college on different courses/classes that I may not have met under normal circumstances.”

今年, a group of business and engineering students returned from visiting MVV Energie, 在曼海姆的总部, 德国. The group helped to develop 英语 language resources for the company which also operates the Plymouth incinerator.

One of the College’s engineering students commented: “I now feel more motivated to work hard so I can get a job that will allow me to work in another country. The MVV experience has also introduced me to the idea of 学徒 opportunities across the EU.”

Also, a City College Plymouth hospitality student completed her travel and tourism course with five months’ immersive work experience in Italy. “我在五星级的维多利亚酒店当服务员, 在意大利北部一个叫布雷西亚的小镇. You learn the language so quickly when you’re out there living it every day. I was really thrown in the deep end, however, it’s a fun experience to grow up quickly! Everyone says how much more confident I am and it is really good experience for when I apply for cabin crew jobs. 我等不及要去更多的地方旅行了!”

These are just a few of the exciting places you could visit as part of your course at City College.
